After graduating from Oxford University with a first class degree in Chinese, Tara took a large step sideways, and launched her career as a contemporary dancer and choreographer. During many study-trips in China, Tara danced with some of Asia's leading dance companies (Cloud Gate Dance Theatre, Taiwan; Beijing Modern Dance Company; and CCDC, Hong Kong. Ever since, she has continued to combine her love for dance with her interest in foreign countries and cultures. After a short time in the States, working with New-York based artist Juliette Mapp, she moved to Paris where she has worked with contemporary companies (Cie Jacky Auvray, Cie Longuelouve), at the same time as developing her own work as a choreographer and improviser. In 2006, she spent 6 months in Dubai working on Jumana, a Prisme international production, choreogrpahed by Pedro Pauwels. Throughout her travels, Tara has maintained close ties with her native England, returning regularly to the UK to work with Biserk Dance Company, with whom she has collaborated on numerous projects since 2001.is this Since 2003, Tara has danced in many improvised performances with artists such as Julyen Hamilton, Olivier Besson and Mike Vargas. She created her first solo work, entitled « For you, Dad» in 2004. She also directs and edits short dance films: « Rêve Général » (2006), « Feel » and « Spin » (works in progress). In recent years, Tara has developpes a passion for Argentine Tango. She makes regular trips to Buenos Aires to study and absorb Tango at it's roots, and teaches and performs in France and the UK. |
